Our Story
When we're young, most of us imagine how our lives will unfold. We dream about the people we'll love, the families we'll build, the careers we'll have, and the future waiting for us. But life has a way of writing its own story. Some dreams come true exactly as we imagined, while others take unexpected turns that challenge us, change us, and ultimately shape the people we become.
The Second Chapter was inspired by the friendship of four women whose lives have been connected since childhood. Life carried us in different directions as we built careers, married, raised families, celebrated life's happiest moments, and weathered some of its hardest ones. Some friendships remained close while others became quieter for a time, but somehow we always found our way back to one another. Whenever we did, it felt as though no time had passed.
None of us imagined this would be our second chapter. Between us, we've experienced divorce, the loss of a husband, the loss of a child, caring for a spouse through serious illness, raising families, navigating autism and mental health challenges with our children, caring for and losing our aging parents, building careers we love, and discovering that loving the people around us can sometimes take an enormous emotional and mental toll.
Through it all, we learned something unexpected. We spent years becoming everything everyone else needed us to be - someone's partner, someone's wife, someone's mother, someone's caregiver, someone's daughter, someone's colleague.
Then life changed.
And we found ourselves asking one simple question.
Who am I now?
That question is the heart of The Second Chapter.
